Crazy hair day at school.

We were going for hedgehog but instead I think he looks like he belongs on set of a vampire movie. Somehow I spent the whole ride to school this morning explaining to him the basic differences between democrats and republicans.

Our current favorite show is back for it's second (and probably final) season!  We watched the premiere last week and I almost wet my pants laughing.  Bruce had to pause the show until I could get my self back together.  For whatever reason, this really really tickles my funny bone! In the US it is on The Science Channel on Saturday nights.

WOW...my 800th post! Someone give me a medal!

I can not have been the only person crying in my car after listening to this story this morning on NPR.  Trust and believe (I am sounding like you, Hilary!) I gave my kids lots of extra hugs today!  For those of you non-NPR junkies, there is a project called StoryCorps , where you can go with a loved one to have a story recorded and preserved at the Library of Congress.  I think it is such a wonderful project and enjoy listening to the podcasts so much.  It makes me realize how alike yet wonderfully unique the human experience is.

Going backwards...again

I just realized I didn't put any of the school Christmas party pictures up.  This is Lucy's pre-school class.  They had a pajama party.  They watched a Christmas movie and had popcorn and hot chocolate.  I was so happy because this shot got her teacher, Ms. Amy along with her 3 best friends at school.  Afterwards they exchanged presents...Lucy was so happy to get this princess dress up kit from her teachers.  Then they did their favorite thing....they went on a bear hunt!  Such a fun day! and in case you've never been on a bear hunt yourself...

Christmas recap

Image
I was too busy enjoying Chrstmas to take many pictures, but we did get these few that I thought I would share here.

So I thought I would share my ode to the fungi. When re-decorating after Christmas I realized I had enough like items to use on my mantel. The other is the top of our built in bookshelves right next to the fireplace with our parents displayed. I love it but it is WAY to whimsical for Bruce. Ah well, u can't please everyone.

I made this delicious dip for my meditation group last night...sooo good. They all wanted the recipe so I thought I would share it here. In food processor combine 2 cans cannellini beans rinsed and drained, 4 avocados, 4 garlic cloves, 1 cup packed fresh parsley leaves, 1/4 cup white wine vinegar, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, and 6 TBS water. Season with coarse salt. Process until smooth. From the January issue of everyday food magazine.

At Lucy's salon not only will you get your hair brushed, cut, dried and styled but she also examines your ears eyes nose and mouth with her magnifying glass, makes you call your Mom and grants you one wish! Who needs a life coach with her around?

Pizza!!

Image
The kids absolutely believe that Bruce's homemade pizza is THE BEST THING EVER! They love to get into the action, especially Miss Lulu. So when her friend Carlie was coming over the activity was a no brainer!

Meet our newest addition to the family...Julia fish. A Christmas present for Lucy from her brother. Named in honor of Lucy's dear friend in Michigan.

Griffin had his first friend phone call today...on Skype!!! He talked to one of his best friends, daughter of some of our dearest friends, Madeline. Oh man, these kids are going to keep us on our toes with all this technology when they are teenagers!

Excited to see her first movie in 3D. And of course it's her favorite princess...Belle!

To celebrate Dr. M. L. King Jr. day, we are going to listen to the Playing for Change Pandora station. Our intention is Peace. This is Lottie and I after our walk this morning.

Reviving my love of handwork. Makes me think about my Grandmother and her legacy of thread art and how hopeful I am that Lucy and Alethia will want to learn someday.

Griffins affirmation

Image
Heyyyyy, I have been sadly neglecting my blog but I may have found a way to reconnect to it. We have recently been setting our house back to rights after the Christmas mayhem. I put a set of Louise Hay's affirmation magnets on the fridge that have been super fun to play with. Even Griffin got into the spirit today!
