The Amazon

Yesterday it was 40 and raining here, the first day it really felt like winter to us. It just seemed miserable so we decided to hop in the car and go somewhere warm, the Amazon. You know, the one in the Evansville Zoo. They just opened this enclosed exhibit in August and we had not gotten the chance to check it out. It was wonderful, hot and humid, filled with beautiful plants and birds and great animal exhibits. Griffin was happy to check out some of his favorites from Diego...a tapir, a jaguar, howler monkeys, a stint, bats, HUGE cockroaches, poison dart frogs, boas, tortoises, some kind of small gators and porcupines.
Lucy loved watching the big waterfall and the bats whirl round and round (we couldn't help thinking of you, DNO!!)

Spending a few hours afterward dealing with some of the Christmas madness in the city didn't seem so bad since we were all so relaxed already. A great day.
