Back in the Saddle again!

Well, we are back from an absolutely rockin' vacation and all that is left is a monstrous pile of laundry, a car filled with beef jerky stench and snack crumbs and a couple hundred photos to sort through. Many posts coming with pictures of our trip.
Fall is here and with it many changes. New landscape, new teachers, new schedules, new wardrobe, new t.v. lineup and ...drum roll please....new potty habits. That's right friends, we are potty training!!! Our newest parental challenge throws down the gauntlet:

Bruce and I decided that when we got home, we would "get serious" about potty training. How one is supposed to be serious about such a collection of hysterical mishaps, I may never know, but we are giving it our best shot. We are employing a collection of potting training aides: Pull-ups, kids potty books (Henry is a celebrity around here. We spend hours discussing Henry, Henry's booty, Henry's relationship with Teddy, Henry's reaction to an "Ooops", Henry's parents and their presence or absence on every page of the book....), plastic covered underwear, the "Dummies guide to potty training" (thoughtfully passed on to us by a friend, Thanks Erin!) and two potty chairs. All that stuff, but the most effective method so far is to just let Griffin go "commando" whenever possible. He seems to respond well when he knows the only thing between him and wet pants is a trip to the toilet. Probably we only have a 50% success rate but we are relishing that! Every time Griffin successfully makes a deposit in the potty and performs his dance/clap combo with an energetic "YEAH, Griffin!" that would make the perkiest high school cheerleader proud, I remember that this too is fun...it's all part of lovin' and livin' with Griff.
So, our non-potty lives go on too. Bruce is back to school for the final year -- woohoo! He is doing his internship at the Hospital every Monday and Friday. He has to be there at 7:30 am and it is an hour and a half away so we are adjusting! He looks so cute in his "Caribbean Blue" scrubs. Griffin and I are trying to take advantage of all the things a Michigan Fall has to offer. Yesterday we joined our playgroup and Blake's cidermill. It was a beautiful day and the kids were so great! Griffin has eaten 4 apples in the last 24 hrs!! Now, whenever I ask him what he wants to do next he yells, "APPLE Pickin'!!!"

Great insight on your potty training adventures. We are not even close to all the stuff your doing. Jake has absolutely no interest right now. None, zip, NADA!! We are waiting a few more months for his interest to pick up if it doesn't then we are going to become drill sargents and get him on that potty!
Great photos from the orchard- Chanley and Chris
